The Work
Shaolin Chess is steered by my pure stubborn determination, and a faith in the steady rhythm of my own two hands. I was dead set on creating this, to ensure it wasn't just another product shaped by algorithms and market trends. I wanted it to retain its soul and sharp edges, instead of becoming some formulaic average of society's blunders and achievements.

3 D Printing
With the help of my good friend Kevin Conners, who modeled the initial pieces, we were able to produce a unique set of high quality minimalistic pieces.
I use a resin printer to print the pieces in large groups at a time. I love the 3D printer for the simple fact I can scale up production, without sacrificing the quality, whenever I need.
eventually I will change over to injection molding.

CNC Boards
Any Wooden Boards are produced in limited productions. While it took more time, than any other part of the project combined to get the hang of this machine, it was well worth the effort and produces a timeless board.

Resin Molded Board
Easily reproduced, highly customizable, extremely scalable. I Wanted to include an option of board that didn't include the CNC. For a moment I had no hopes of a working CNC machine, so it made sense to find another option. I enjoy the ability to mix Mica powders in for a more uniquely you experience.

Vacuum molded packaging
My last project is to create a custom vacuum molded packaging. If I have my way, will recycle the left over plastic from the containers the resin comes in.

Still under construction: It seems like the self sustainable mix of creative problem solving, and eco friendly ambition, that I grew up with in Austin TX in the 90's and early 2000's.
